The name "Belfast" originates from the river Farset. The Gaelic name of Beal Feirste means mouth of the Farset river. The city of Belfast has been occupied since the Bronze Age and visitors can still visit the remains of the Iron Age hill forts.
The Belfast born Manchester United legend George Best became British Sportsman of the Century and runner up to Muhammad Ali in the World category of the BBC’s all-time greats.
